My name is Veronika Pičmanová, I was born in Prague, been raised in Munich and travelled the world. Well, big parts at least.

These resulted in my long working experience in an international and interdisciplinary environment.

🎬

As a trained audiovisual producer (+member of the IHK audit committee) and photojournalist, I visited many (post-)conflict areas between 2005 and 2013, such as Afghanistan, Pakistan, Egypt or South Sudan and tried to help with what I was best at up to that point: media training and development on behalf of Deutsche Welle Academy.

I would like to think, that I was able to help the people there in a small way, by passing on my know-how and helping to launch some first roots of free media 👇(outtakes).

In addition to my core work of training media professionals, my passion for 'painting with light'* has resulted in thousands of photographs, which found their way into my first book publication and various exhibitions.

🎖️

Furthermore I had the opportunity to prove my communication and networking skills as an International Civilian Consultant and Forward Media Team Leader for NATO.

👩🏻‍🏫

This experience encouraged me to seek a degree in political sciences in Munich and later work in several academic roles, including as a lecturer at the University of Salzburg.

⚗️

Fascinated by science, my academic, journalistic and media background together with my broad experience in (media) training and communication, allowed me to work as a science communications manager and digital content creator for EU-funded research projects

and currently as social media & digital communication manager, and photographer at Helmholtz Munich, member of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers.

* Photography = ancient Greek φωτός photós: 'light' and γράφειν graphein: 'to write', 'to paint', 'to draw' => loosely translated 'painting with light'.
